A look Inside Elon Musk’s Private Jet Collection

Elon Musk was born in Pretoria, South Africa, on June 28, 1971. He is a South African-born American entrepreneur who cofounded PayPal and SpaceX, a launch vehicle and spaceship manufacturer. He was also one of the company’s initial significant investors and is the chairman and CEO of Tesla Motors. Musk has committed to the green revolution with Tesla on top of the vehicle food chain by being the highest-selling electric car manufacturer in the world. Tesla stock skyrocketed and has been soaring for the better part of the last decade and consequently made Elon Musk billions upon billions of dollars, eventually garnering him the title of the wealthiest man on earth with features from Forbes, Time, etc., marketing him as a protagonist in the billionaire world.

Musk has stated that the goals of SolarCity, Tesla Motors, and SpaceX are focused on his vision of altering the world and humanity. His plans include lowering global warming through sustainable energy production and consumption, reducing the “risk of human extinction” through establishing a human colony on Mars, and “making life multi-planetary.”

Musk has amassed considerable riches due to his lofty objectives, making him the wealthiest person in the world. Musk does not go overboard with luxury, but he does have one love that he keeps with: buying planes to not only stay in contact with the aviation sector but also to have a few jets at his disposal to fly around the world, overseeing the countless businesses he has running all over. Did you realize that Musk spends far less on automobiles than the typical person?

When it comes to his jet collection, even though he owns expensive planes, he has kept it to a minimal number of four, three of which are manufactured by Gulfstream, his favorite manufacturer. His fleet as of now comprises a Gulfstream G650 purchased in 2021, as well as two Gulfstream G550s purchased in 2016 and 2020, and also a Dassault 900B which was the first jet he bought for himself, but he has reportedly placed an order for the flagship Gulfstream G700 that will cost him around 78 million dollars and be delivered in 2023 to his doorstep.

Dassault 900B

Musk received the Falcon 900B, a variant of the aircraft with Honeywell TFE731-5BR-1C engines, in 2004. Musk purchased the plane before becoming a billionaire in 2012.

According to registration documents obtained by the online database PlaneLogger, Musk’s plane was previously registered to various firms, including MLM company Amway. This suggests that Musk most likely purchased a used jet. Musk’s Falcon 900B is registered as N900SX. Musk’s plane was last spotted in operation in 2016. Musk stated in an interview with Chris Anderson at the TED Conference in April that he does not own a home, a yacht, or go on vacation. “I mean, the plane is an exception, but if I don’t use the plane, I have fewer hours to work,” Musk explained. The Dassault Falcon 900B has a range of 3,450 miles and has been one of the most popular used private jet options since the 1990s. The interior is typical, featuring a galley, four big executive seats, and four smaller seats. The aircraft has 24 windows. Wooden tables are stored along the plane’s sidewalls, with seats typically facing each other and adjustable screens for entertainment. Although it is Musk we’re talking about, the changeable displays are used more effectively by employing them for discussing and analyzing future projects.

Gulfstream G550

Elon really loves the G550, especially since he bought one in 2020 and another in 2021. The Gulfstream G550 is one of the most luxurious private jets available on the market. It combines versatility with functionality and creature comforts everywhere to continually help keep your comfort level to the max, especially when you are a business tycoon heading technological innovation that would affect the future of the world we live and breathe in.

The Gulfstream is a “supercharged” version of light and mid-size planes. It has the same ease of use and convenience but is heavier and has a larger passenger capacity. It offers a larger cabin area and facilities such as a bathroom, Wi-Fi, DVD players, and a bar. Celebrities such as John Travolta, Steve Jobs, Larry Ellison, and Mark Cuban own and fly in Gulfstreams, but Elon Musk stands out. While bigger than light and medium planes, the Gulfstream is still small enough to land at local airports. Commercial aircraft, typically, can only land in an estimated 550 airports worldwide, the Gulfstream and other private jets can land in an estimated 5,500 airports, greatly expanding the destination of choice and traveling from the airport to airport, and when the airport in question may not be large enough to accommodate a larger plane, the Gulfstream is the way to go.

This comprises a lounge space in the front, a conference table in the middle, and a divan in the back. The galley and forward lavatory of the plane is located between the main cabin and the cockpit. The seats of the G550 are really comfy. They’re soft and supportive without making you feel like you’re sinking into a La-Z-Boy. Every piece of leather used to upholster the jet’s interior is thoroughly scrutinized, and even minor flaws are eliminated. Not only that but many of the physical functions provided by the jet can be controlled directly through your iPhone, giving you the power of a 60-million-dollar jet in the palm of your hand (yes, that was a spiderman reference). These functions include flight information, media controls, climate control, and window shades, among many others. The G550 is still a considerably large plane that takes two pilots to fly and may be excessive for one person, but when Elon Musk is involved, buying this gorgeous and competent aircraft is a no-brainer.

Gulfstream G650ER

In March 2016, Elon Musk purchased a Gulfstream G650ER. According to the Washington Post, the billionaire traveled more than 150,000 miles on the airplane in 2018 alone, proving that he adores his plane. The plane was completed in 2015, and Musk bought it in 2016. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo are said to own a Gulfstream G650ER.

Musk told Chris Anderson at the TED Conference in April that he does not spend “billions of dollars a year on personal spending” but that the plane is an exception to his thrifty lifestyle. The G650ER is a prominent model in Gulfstream’s lineup, with a starting price of US$66.5 million, and Musk’s is sure to be more expensive. The G650ER, the variant that Musk owns, is an extended-range version of the standard G650 and can fly 7,500 nautical miles (more than 8,600 miles) without needing to refuel. It’s also the biggest Gulfstream business aircraft. However, the incoming G700 will shortly dethrone it.

The jet is fitted with the best of everything, lavish and luxurious exuding from every corner of the jet’s cabin; handmade reclinable seats provide essential comfort, and the finest leather and wood used in the cabin of the jet only add to the luxury. The aircraft also has the most windows in its class – 16 total.

“The G650ER has no equal regarding its incredible combination of speed and range. Worldwide, you just can’t go farther faster, and this record [the 2019 Singapore-Tucson flight] proves it. With 350 aircraft in service, the G650 and G650ER show day in and day out that they are class-creating and -leading aircraft that set the standard when they were announced and continue to do so today. Simply put, all others follow,” said Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream Aerospace. `

There is even a Twitter account with the handle @ElonJet that tracks the location of the private jet and, according to the account/Musk’s 99-foot-long luxury jet is a fair trade-off for an existing home, coming equipped with multiple big-screen televisions, fresh air circulation and 195 square feet for luggage storage, especially since the billionaire said that he does not own a home and usually stays at friends’ places.
